Purpose
The
grant program is a tool to assist entrepreneurs or developers
in establishing businesses within the Downtown Development
District. Minimal restrictions exists on the types of
requests considered by the board. The program has been
devised to accommodate unforeseen opportunities found
in a free enterprise economy. Available real property
and existing commercial buildings need to be adapted
for meeting modern business requirements. The D.D.A.
recognizes that empty buildings, older buildings, or
environmental issues add extra costs and considerations
for reuse of available properties.
The
goals of the program are to attract complimentary business
enterprises to the district, fill empty buildings, reduce
blight, and to generate more revenue within the district
for the municipality. D.D.A. financial assistance might
be given to an established or new business for any aspect
of business operations. Such items might include start-up
costs, structural improvements, demolition, inventory,
promotion, equipment, or real property. |
